The sky is painted black
The smoke pours out the stack
One hand upon your heart
One hand behind your back
You train us how to act
You keep the fear intact
The imminent attack
Everything is right on track
And we are letting you get away
We are letting you get away with it
Upon our plates to feed
The dying left to bleed
How much we really need
Your politics of greed
The cancer takes ahold
The wolf is in the fold
Our destiny’s been sold
We do just what we’re told
And we are letting you get away
We are letting you get away with it
Your armies filled with hate
Believing your charade
Begin to suffocate
For us it’s far too late
And we are letting you get away
We are letting you get away with it

The Shitstorm of All Time is coming in 2010
“Charles T. Maxwell, described as the 'Dean of Oil Analysts' and the senior energy analyst at Weeden & Co., expects an oil-induced financial crisis to start somewhere in the 2010 to 2015 timeframe, Energytechstocks.com reported. He said that, unlike the recession the U.S. appears to be in today, ‘This will not be six months of hell and then we come out of it.’ Rather, Maxwell expects this financial crisis to last at least 10 or 12 years, as the world goes through a prolonged period of price-induced rationing (eg, oil up to $300 a barrel and U.S. pump prices up to $15 a gallon).”

An American story: they profit, we hurt.

I personally thank the bi-partisan senate committee that grilled oil execs over soaring gas prices and increasingly soaring oil company profits. Since oil company lobbyists no doubt have countless Republican lawmakers in their pockets, these "hearings" will apply pressure but do precious little to help hard-working Americans struggling to keep their gas tanks full.

america
She reached her zenith.
she is tattered and broken
and slowly dying,
hanging by the thread that clasps her neck.
i used her up while i could
but saw her leader plotting a certain sabotage
and annihilation
and realized that her days are numbered.
"use or lose," I quipped.
i plan to flee. whether in reality or in my mind,
i do not care.
ah, i'm so narcissistic. bourgeois.
i'm a postmodern cliche.
and i stink of cheap american cologne
and my belly is full of trans fats.
i wander my own private little Rome.
she's clogged and restricted like my veins.
doesn't it all end in flames?

It's like, you know...
This is SPOT ON. Found it on Michelle Malkin's website. It addresses the fact that the current generation (18-21 year olds) can't speak proper English lest they inject "like" every other word.

revolving door
Those "friends" of his are all full of shit.
Suddenly he disappears from the mailing list.
And time totally erodes what one of two people thought was a genuine friendship.
It was replaced by more important things and people.
And, alas, friendship remains what it always was. This fleeting, phony, propped-up thing.
The thing that no one in his life deserves. Or has ever earned.

Even Liberals Need Jesus on Their Side

More disingenuous pandering... this time to the conservative Right.

Shitty economy trumps public's interest in troop withdrawl
..."But a worsening economy has easily overtaken Iraq as the top concern for voters, according to a New York Times/CBS poll released last week. Only 17 percent of respondents picked the war as the 'one issue' they'd like to hear the candidates discuss more."

Trent Reznor to me, a loyal NIN fan of 14 years: "this one's on me."

And Trent, I truly thank you, especially for the last few years of non-stop creative energy on your part. I don't know where I'd be without your music. Really and truly.
The new record feels like an exposed nerve. And it feels very good. If you aren't too familiar with Nine Inch Nails, give the album a whirl. Hell, why not? It's free.

"Some things cost more than you realize..."
A brilliant new Radiohead video was donated to MTV's EXIT campaign, which speaks out against human trafficking and child labor. Do watch.

Alas, a once great rock and roll magazine resorts to pimping out reality tv fame whores
RS has always had to cater to trash pop culture, I suppose, which is why Spin and NME are my music magazines of choice.
